America is a settler-
colonial state
and it’s full
of hate
and it’s full
of tired, hungry. and poor
and there’s no land left
to steal and settle
so Uncle Sam doesn’t
need anymore.
The tired, hungry, and poor
weren’t welcomed out of love
or out of empathy
or because Uncle Sam could see
their humanity
Uncle Sam only needed bodies,
white bodies,
to fill up settlements
and fill the army ranks
which filled the bank accounts
of men like Rockefeller
and men like Carnegie
don’t you see?
America only needed bodies,
white bodies,
to help kill,
to help conquer,
to help enslave,
to help create a country
where rich white men reign supreme
and black and brown people
are never free
and it’s a locking mechanism
that was built without a key
so it can’t be picked,
or pried open
or salvaged
or fixed
it can only be nixed,
tossed out,
thrown away
and there’s no better time to start
than today….
