To Etch Our Luck Into Stone

We’re really lucky,

aren’t we? so lucky in fact

that we just can’t see

how privileged we are, as if

we got here without a car

as if we got here

of our own accord, as if

we’re blessed by the lord

as if our cars not fueled by

the tears cried by the oppressed

as if we’re not dressed

in sweaty clothes, as if the

wind has always blown our way

and today’s our lucky day

as it’s always been

because Christian God himself

prefers straight white men

and used his pen way back when

to etch our luck into stone

and give us stones to

kill everyone we oppose

and to forgive us

when our luck makes their blood flow

into our rivers of dreams

and to forgive us

when the earth screams out ENOUGH,

and to keep blessing

us with more and more and more

and more and more and more stuff.
