The Queen Never Lost Her Crown

Monk Seals already have to sunbathe

on plastic-covered beaches now

and they might be displaced

from their home in Molokai’s shore waters

by another species of seal

the deadliest the world has known

far beyond merely invasive

but sadly, it’s nothing new

it started when Cook and his crew

first set their eyes on this prize

then after the Marines

helped overthrow the queen

the military never left

and the blatant theft

of the Hawaiian Kingdom

has been cleansed from history books

but just look at the capital

and notice which flag flies,

it is the US government

that occupies this land

but the sand is slipping

from the empire

and this occupation

is sure to expire

but until it does

they’ll want more

and more

and more

they need to displace the monk seals

they say

they have to train for war

after war

after war

and it’s poor killing poor

and it’s been more than a score

since Clinton apologized*

and if you think Hawaii’s a state

open up your eyes

this is a nation under occupation

where the flags fly upside down

they might teach English

and force kids to pledge allegiance

but the queen never lost her crown…

Please read & sign this petition in solidarity with Molokai (Hawaii) to prevent the US Navy from training in the shore waters of this island. There are MANY reasons why this should not be allowed to happen, one of the reasons is that this is a critical habitat for Hawaiian Monk Seals. Also, this is the US government expanding the physical presence of the occupation of Hawaii. Kanaka Maoli (Native Hawaiians) do not want this. Immigrants to this beautiful place do not want this. It won’t benefit the community in any way, it will harm the environment, and at the end of the day, they are training to kill civilians in other countries. That’s the opposite of aloha.
